Assigned 10 structures. Inspected tying and placement of reinforcing steel for the following structure members: footings, columns, caps, diaphragms, bridge decks and all other structure members pertaining to bridges and box culverts. Also recorded data for pile driving operations, administered tests for the placement of concrete as well as tests to achieve soil density, and ensured proper erosion control measures were in place and maintained.
Smith Creek Parkway 06/2001 - 04/2002 Project Cost: $60 Million
Assigned to structure inspection. Trained higher-level technicians in inspecting drilled pier construction. This included inspection of tying and placement of epoxy coated reinforcing steel for the following structure members: drilled shafts, footings, columns, and caps. Recorded data for steel and pre-stressed concrete piling, setting of pre-stressed concrete girders, administered tests for placement of concrete, recorded daily diaries of personnel/equipment used and work performed, logged material received reports, made entries into pay record books and mediated between contractor superintendents and Resident Engineers.
US 17 Bypass Bridge over New River 06/1999 - 06/2001 Project Cost: $16 Million
Assigned to structure inspection. Inspected tying of epoxy coated reinforcing steel for the following structure members: drilled piers, footing, columns, caps bridge decks and various other structure members. Recorded data for driving of pre-stressed concrete piling, setting of pre-stressed concrete girders - type V and VI, inspection of S.I.P. deck forms. Administered tests for placement of concrete, recorded daily diaries of personnel and equipment used and work performed, logged materials received reports, kept force account records, and assisted in survey checks to ensure correct alignment and elevation.
US 17 Holly Ridge/Jacksonville-4lanes 01/1998 - 06/2001 Project Cost: $32 Million
Performed as instrument man, rod man and chain man in establishing control and elevation for roadway and structures. Inspected placement of stone and asphalt for roadway and seeding and mulching operations. Administered tests for concrete placement for bridge deck pours.
